Private Services

PRIVATE SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE PRACTICE
We are first and foremost an NHS practice providing medical services free at the point of use. There are, however, some services provided by the practice that are not covered by the NHS. This work includes services such as writing medical reports, completing forms or arranging medical examinations for employment, travel or sports. Details of the charges are available from reception.

Some immunisations for travel are not covered by the NHS and details of these will be provided by the practice nurse.

Speech and Language Therapy – Susan Olding
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY for young children is provided in the form of assessment, reviews, programmes, and regular or intensive therapy input. Early intervention has been shown to be very effective. Programmes can be set out and demonstrated to parents so that they can be used in the home and pre-school environment.

Assessment with young children is very informal, by playing and observing the child to gain insight into their understanding and use of language, as well as general development.

With older, school age children, the assessment is slightly more formal, with up to date, standardised assessments used to analyse strengths and weaknesses, compare the child with his/her peers and to measure progress during therapy.

Susan qualified in Speech and Language in 1979 and has worked for the last 20 years mainly in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and also as a Clinical Tutor at City University.

Susan is a registered member of the Health Professions Council, registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, and a member of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice. She has considerable experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a variety of clients and their conditions, including specific language disorder, semantic and pragmatic difficulties and stammering.
